Herbal Body Wraps Continued As you bring your wraps from around the back use a criss cross method of going under one breast and over the top of the other. Switch the direction of your wrap with a new strip so you go under the other breast and over the top of the other. It is harder to explain than it is to do. All you really have to remember is to cover all your skin while at the same time uplifting your body as you go. For your neck and chin, wrap at an angle that includes going over the top of your head. You may want to wear a scarf to protect your hair. Wrap loosely around this area so you don't impair your circulation. Wraps are not placed over the face. Do your arms last starting at the hand and working up. Be sure to apply your solution to each area before you begin wrapping. You can place cotton socks on your hands and feet or use plastic baggies that are secured with loose rubber bands. My salon used plastic baggies, but it is easier to move around with socks. The bags might need to be drained to keep from falling off and it is difficult to do by yourself. By the time you get all wrapped up you will look and feel like a mummy! It is difficult to bend your elbows and knees and use your hands so have everything you need at your side. Now you are ready to lie down for 30 minutes to one hour. Lie on top of and cover with towels and listen to soothing music. Set your alarm so you don't fall asleep and wake up hours later with mud hardening on your skin! For the walking wrap, put on a sweat suit or robe to prevent drafts since your wraps will be damp, and just walk continuously for 30 minutes to one hour. Walk around your yard or inside your house, nothing strenuous, just keep moving. When your time is up simply remove your strips,
rinse the mud out, and throw them in the washer for next time. Use natural
laundry detergent if possible to keep your strips free from fragrances and
chemicals. After they are dry you can roll them onto paper towel or toilet
paper rolls. These keep them tidy plus it can be easier when wrapping to
wrap directly off the roll instead of having a loose strip flapping around.
For 48 hours after your wrap you should take special care to avoid ingesting junk food if you can, especially sugar and salt. Also increase your water intake. A wrap doesn't remove water weight so drinking water won't cause your lost inches to return. One of the best drinks I have come across is rejuvelac. . It was devised by Ann Wigmore who did a lot of work in the natural health field with wheat grass and raw foods. Rejuvelac is said to be teaming with enzymes which will help to clean out fat cells and repair tissue. Do a search for Rejuvelac on the internet and you can find a variety of methods for making it. Basically you soak wheat berries in water overnight. Throw out that water and let the berries sit for a couple days until they start to sprout. Then cover the berries with spring water and let them continue to sprout for a couple of days depending on the room temperature. You then drink this fermented sprout water that is full of enzymes. Some recipes have you drinking the water off whole berries, and other recipes chop the berries to release more enzymes. If it smells bad or looks molded, throw it out and start over. It can go bad pretty fast in hot weather. It is supposed to be somewhat fizzy and have a slightly grassy lemonade flavor. I'll tell you upfront the taste isn't that great. Ms. Wigmore claimed it tastes like lemonade. Maybe you'll like it. I try to drink it because I have seen first hand the results I have had with it.. But boy it sure is hard for me to get down. I very first tried this several years ago in conjunction with increasing my water intake. I kept hearing to lose weight drink 8 glasses of water a day. I couldn't stand to drink water either and would add flavorings to it so I decided to make up some rejuvelac and mix it with my water. I put two cups in a gallon of distilled water and kept it by my side all day to sip on. Well I didn't really notice a difference in my weight but after a few days the transformation in my skin was unbelievable. The skin on my face was dewy and vibrant and the cross hatch lines around my eyes disappeared. You can do a search on rejuvelac on the internet and find more information. Dr. Freedom Batmanghelidj tells in his book “Your Body's Many Cries for Water” this formula for determining how much water to drink to maintain optimal health. Take half your body weight in pounds and drink that much in ounces of water every day. So if you weigh 140 pounds you are supposed to drink 70 ounces of water a day. Also if you drink an 8 ounce soft drink you are to drink an extra 8 ounces of water to counter act it. He also tells how drinking diet soft drinks can actually cause you to gain weight. This is an interesting book worth the read in my opinion if this is an area of interest to you. The short of it is to drink plenty of water at least for the first couple of days after your wrap to help flush your cells and prevent your skin from drying. Another natural health treatment I have used and find effective is dry skin brushing. Before you shower each day use a natural bristle skin brush and brush over your entire body. This gives your skin a glow and is supposed to be good for your lymph system and helps it get rid of toxins easier. Now on to the recipes for the wrapping solutions! |
